The Future of SA Baseball Starts With Better Development
South Australia has a proud baseball community, supported by strong local clubs, dedicated volunteers and a rich history of producing talented athletes.
However, there remains a gap between community competition and structured, professional development environments.
Young players can move from club baseball into representative programs without consistent access to modern coaching systems, measurable development benchmarks or individual feedback. The Adelaide Giants Academy has been created to help bridge that gap.
The Academy provides a clear, structured step between grassroots participation and advanced pathways, giving committed young athletes access to the standards, methodology and development environment of a professional Australian Baseball League club.
This is not about early specialisation or elite labels.
It is about clarity, consistency and long-term development.

The Baseball SA x Adelaide Giants Academy is a structured development program designed to create more opportunities for young players across South Australia.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to growing baseball throughout the state and providing meaningful, accessible development opportunities that strengthen both participation and performance outcomes.
By bringing together Baseball SA’s established development pathways and the professional resources of the Adelaide Giants, the Academy gives young athletes a clearer connection between community baseball and the next stages of their development.
Program Overview
Duration: SA School Terms 2–4
Format: Weekly structured sessions, delivered by Adelaide Giants coaches
In collaboration with Baseball SA, the Academy operates as a structured youth development program, allowing athletes to balance club baseball, school commitments and other sports while progressing within a professional framework.
Age Groups
- U12 (starting from age 9)
- U13
- U14
Limited positions are available in each intake to maintain coaching quality and appropriate athlete-to-coach ratios.

- Location: Dicolor Stadium
- Days/Dates: Fridays, 16 October – 4 December
- Session Time: 6:00PM – 8:00PM

The Adelaide Giants Academy actively encourages multi-sport participation. Well-rounded athletes develop more completely, reduce their risk of injury and build stronger long-term performance capacity.
The Academy is designed to complement other sports, not compete with them.

Program Inclusions
- Weekly skills sessions – 2-hour sessions each week covering baseball-specific skills, game approach, and strength & conditioning foundations.
- End-of-term scrimmage day – Competitive games against other regional academies.
- Total Health monitoring – Supported by the Adelaide Giants High Performance team, including a GP, physiotherapist, dietician, psychologist, and strength & conditioning coach / exercise physiologist.
- Targeted training programs – Designed to give players the technical, tactical and physical tools required to compete and understand the game at a higher level.
- Gateway to Baseball SA exposure – The program is endorsed by Baseball SA and complements existing high-performance pathways.
- Priority consideration for tournament teams – Academy players will be first considered for tournament teams, such as competing in the January Sydney Blue Sox tournament.
- MLB affiliate exposure – Educational discussions and webinars with current MLB pipeline personnel.
- Academy uniform – Players receive an official Adelaide Giants Academy shirt, cap and hoodie. Due to the short timeline, uniforms may not be ready for Week 1 of Term 4, but should be guaranteed by Week 2–3.

Who is the Academy for?
The Academy is designed for motivated players aged 9–14 who want to improve their skills, understanding of the game and overall athletic development.
It is not limited to “elite” players. The focus is on building strong fundamentals, confidence and long-term development using Adelaide Giants coaching expertise and high-performance systems, and having fun while doing it!
What if my athlete has other winter sport commitments?
The Adelaide Giants Academy actively encourages multi-sport participation. Well-rounded athletes develop stronger movement patterns, reduce injury risk and build greater long-term performance capacity.
The program is designed to complement winter sports and scheduling will reflect this where possible.
How does the Academy operate during Term 3 / School Term 4?
Term 3 shifts to a more strength and conditioning-focused model, while still maintaining baseball-specific elements. This approach is designed to support athletes during the club season, working around game and training commitments while continuing to build athletic foundations and durability.
What level of experience is required?
Players should have a basic understanding of baseball through tee ball or club participation.
The program is designed to support a range of ability levels, with structured progression to help each athlete develop at the right pace.
How many sessions are included?
The program runs across SA School Terms 2–4 and includes weekly structured sessions, alongside additional development opportunities such as scrimmage days and ongoing performance support.
